DVD
Before purchasing a DVD from a Web Sales Direct Limited web site you
need to ensure that both your DVD Player and Television will be
compatible. As a very quick starting point you can be confident that
DVDs purchased from us will function correctly in the UK, Europe,
Japan, South Africa and the Middle East.
Having researched where a vast majority of visitors to our site live
in the world, it is possible that potential customers from Australia
& New Zealand will also be able to enjoy some of our great sports
DVDs, for example Region
0 coded. However, it is highly unlikely that the DVDs we stock will
be compatible for customers living in the USA and Canada.
DVD Regions
We currently sell two different Region Coded DVDs, namely Region 0 &
2.
Please refer to the 'Format' information in the 'Specification'
section on each individual DVD product page for confirmation of the
Region Coding.
When DVDs were first introduced, groups of countries around the
world were allocated a Region Coding, from Region 1 to 8. Region 2
DVDs are compatible in the UK, Europe, Japan, South Africa and the
Middle East.
Soon after this initial Region Coding exercise an additional Region
was introduced, much to the delight of consumers and this is Region
0. The theory behind Region 0 is that it can be 'read' by all DVD
Players regardless of which country you are in. This is certainly
true for all modern DVD Players which are 'multi-region', however,
there is one further consideration and that is the television
signal.
TV signal
All our DVDs are recorded using the PAL TV signal. This system is
used in the UK, Europe, Japan, South Africa and the Middle East, as
well as other countries such as Australia and New Zealand. However,
the TV signal used in
Canada and the US is NTSC. That is the reason why, even though your
DVD
Player in North America might be able to 'read' one of our DVDs, the
television won't be able to display it.
We are confident that DVDs purchased from us will function correctly
in the UK, Europe, Japan, South Africa and the Middle East. However,
we do not accept responsibility for the accuracy of this information
and strongly advise that if you are in any doubt you consult your
local electrical retailer for advice before making a purchase.

that you will need both a DVD Player that can 'read' any Region (sometimes
referred to as a Multi Region DVD Player), and a TV which can receive
the PAL TV signal. Please consult your local retailer for advice before
making a purchase.
